Why did Atlantans stop visiting the Chattahoochee River? We drive our cars over it and draw our drinking water from it.  But where can our river be visited and enjoyed? Join Drift the Map and the Museum of Design Atlanta for a peek at Chattahoochee NOW’s vision to reclaim miles of Atlanta’s hidden riverfront with a network of farms, forests, parks, and nature preserves.

Meet us December 9 at 2 p.m. at Standing Peachtree Park, 2630 Ridgewood Road NW, Atlanta. Wear sneakers for this two hour walk exploring the forest, climbing riverbanks and walking the industrial neighborhood around the river.  This site where Peachtree Creek empties into the Chattahoochee is one of the most interesting and historic places in Atlanta.  The trail that led to this trading post between the Muscogee and Cherokee nations eventually became Atlanta’s famous Peachtree Road.  The beauty and history of the river is so great here that it seems barely diminished by the surrounding sewage treatment plant, asphalt plant, landfill, railroad, and busy traffic overpass.
